Luckily there is no need to boot into Tiger. The latest drivers posted on the Canon website are compatible with OS X Leopard (version 10.5) - I am running version 10.5.1 right now and have printed without problems. In fact the driver is very nice and easy to use.
When I installed I did not use the Canon CD except to install the users manual. Instead I went directly to their website and downloaded the latest drivers to install. That way I knew I would not have any problems and could do a real test on the drivers without wondering if there was a problem with updating over the old one. I would recommend the same approach to anyone else.
The largest print I have made so far is 44 inches wide by 60 inches long. A fantastic print on glossy photo paper. I have also made some smaller prints including grayscale prints of our train posters (see www.cwkproducts.com for more info on these). Additionally, I printed out some photos for fun at 16x20 on heavyweight treated paper - they look very nice.
So far, I am really pleased with the results that I am getting with this
printer. The print speed is great and the printer is very easy to use. It has
a very readable LCD screen and informative prompts. The paper loading
is a little different than what I was used to with the Epson 9600Pro but
after one or two changes of paper it was very easy. I have only used
roll paper so others may have different experience working with sheets.
